Richard B. “Dick” Seegers, 77 of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Vibra Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
He was born Jan. 6, 1939 in Elkhart to Bernard P. and Elizabeth (Eberle) Seegers. He married Paula S. Hancuff on Oct. 12, 1963 in Elkhart. She died on Dec. 15, 2012. Surviving are a son, Paul A. (Camla) Seegers of South Bend and a daughter, Mary E. (Tony) Sippel of Moore, SC and 2 grandsons, Gregory and Eric Sippel, and a special friend, Nancy Snyder of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ernst.
Dick graduated from Elkhart High School and attended Ball State University. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired from Selmer as an advertising and production manager. He was the building and grounds manager at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol since 1994 and owned with his wife an antique shop for 7 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus #11574 and the Bristol Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award.
Visitation for Dick will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart, where the Rosary will be recited at 1:45 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1pm Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol where friends may call an hour prior. Fr. Robert Van Kempen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery at a later date.
