Robert J. Beers

Robert J. “Bob” Beers, 94, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2023 at home. He was born on May 30, 1928 in Hillsdale, MI to Robert H. and Celia R. Beers. He married Joan C. Freed on November 27, 1952 in Elkhart and she preceded him in death on November 22, 2010.

Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed wood working making things that friends and family have treasured throughout the years. He loved to serve the Lord, he and his late wife were charter members of Elkhart Northside Church of the Nazarene. He truly loved to spend time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are 3 sons, Ronald Beers of Lancaster, PA, Pastor Thomas (Debbie) Beers of Columbia City, and Larry (Debra) Beers of Elkhart; 9 grandchildren Brandon (Kira) Frisby, JoyAnna (Scott) Dombrowski, Amy Beers, BethAnne (Alex) Adams, Ben Beers, Brittney (Duke) Johnson, Stephen Beers, Chelsea Beers, and McKenzie Beers; 13 great-grandchildren and his brother Lyle (Martha) Beers of Elkhart. Robert was preceded in death by siblings Dale Beers, Lewis Beers, Ellsworth Beers and Doris Wolgamood.

Visitation will be from 10- 11 am Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Elkhart Northside Church of the Nazarene, 53569 County Road 7, Elkhart, IN 46514, where funeral services will be held at 11am with Pastor Tim Sheets officiating.  Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the Beers family. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
