Robert C. Brown, 89, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday October 25, 2022 at his home. He was born January 10, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Hugh F. J. and Dorothy H. C. Brown. In 1987 he married Marian M. Mathews in Elkhart, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Marian, one sister, Ann B. Lundt of Ballwin, MO, a niece, Laurie (Bill) Lambros and two nephews, Robert (Robyn) Lundt and Jim Lundt. He is also survived by three step-children, son, David (Becky) Matthews and daughters, Karen (Pat) Terrell and Kimberly (Mike) Chramtchenko, two step-grandsons Ryan and Ben Chrantchenko and Goddaughter Rylee Hornor.
Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955. He graduated from The University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Education. He was employed by the University of Illinois Institute of Aviation from 1959 – 1971. He was a corporate pilot for various private companies. He retired from HomeCrest Corporation as their Chief Pilot in 1997. During his 40+ years in aviation, Mr. Brown logged more than 17,000 hours, and was a charter member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Robert was a constituent member of Trinity on Jackson Church in Elkhart.
Friends may visit from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 11 am. Pastor Karen Koelsch will officiate. Entombment with military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
