Robert E. Welker (Pinky), born July 22nd 1926, passed away Wednesday July 25th 2018.  He was proceeded in death by Mary Helen Bailey (sister), Peggy A. Klein (daughter) and Debra S. Johnson (daughter).  He is survived by his lovely wife of 73 years Mildred E. (Jacobs) Welker and daughter Cathy L. Taylor.  He is also survived by grandchildren; Scott Klein, Jackie DeWald, Shana Pittman, Samantha Johnson, Michael Johnson, Thomas Johnson, and Stephanie Klemm as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Bob Welker graduated from Concord High School in 1944.  He was a member of Elkhart County 4-H Beef Club and one of the first male cheerleaders at Concord High School.  He was part of baseball and basketball teams and later played softball.  He retired from (Miles) Bayer after 23 years in 1982.  He enjoyed playing golf and was an enthusiastic Notre Dame fan.  Bob greeted everyone he met with a smile and kindness.  He will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor and laughter.  Bob’s personal philosophy is that there is nothing in life that an ice cream couldn’t fix.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00am Thursday, Aug. 2nd 2018 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN.  Immediate family may proceed to the burial place after the memorial. Donations can be made to Elkhart County 4-H to honor his memory.
