Robert L. Ernsberger, 86, of Bristol, died at 7:35 am Thursday, November 10, 2011 at
his home. He was born September 30, 1925 in Elkhart to Howard B. and Ruth Hannah (Leonard) Ernsberger. He married Elamay L. “Effie” DeVite on January 21, 1946 in Yuma, AZ. She died September 18, 1984.

He is survived by a son Terry L. (Melody) Ernsberger of Goshen; 2 daughters Ruth M. (Michael) Saupe and Pamela M. (Chris) Congdon, both of Bristol; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Ruth Stoner of Elkhart and Mary Simper of Osceola; and brother Kenneth “Shorty” Ernsberger of O’Connell, WI. He was preceded in death by sisters Edna Kaser, Katherine Bralick; and brothers Wilford “Pat”, Howard, Jr., Harold “Tub”, and William Ernsberger.

Robert owned L. Bob Gravel and was a farmer. He graduated from Jimtown High School. He belonged to the American Legion and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 12 noon funeral service Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Pastor Fred Stayton will officiate. Burial will follow at Trout Creek Cemetery with military honors rendered by the US Navy and DAV #19.
