Robert P. Fitzsimmons

Robert P. Fitzsimmons, 66 of Elkhart, died at 10:47 am, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born July 21, 1943 in Elkhart to Robert L. and Grace (Urmey) Fitzsimmons and married Janet S. Housour on February 14, 1981 in Elkhart. She survives with 1 daughter, Tammy (Terry) Fry of LaGrange, IN, 1 son, Robert H. (Cynthia) Fitzsimmons of Sturgis, MI, 3 stepsons, Robert (Kathy) Whitmyer of Duluth, MN, Michael (Lori) Whitmyer of Arvada, CO and Jeffrey (Janis) Whitmyer of Reno, NV; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Fitzsimmons was a sales manager for the R.V. Industry for many years. He then retired as owner of Trailerama in Elkhart for 8 years. He was a huge sports fan, especially Notre Dame.

He graduated from Elkhart High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. During the Viet Nam era.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart, where services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday. Reverend Coy Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where the D.A.V. # 19 will conduct military graveside honors.
