Robert K. Maier Sr.

Robert K. Maier Sr., 91, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born June 25, 1919 in Goshen to Frank and Cora (Cooper) Maier and married Maxine H. Elick on November 14, 1937 in Elkhart. She died June 30, 2001. Surviving are 2 sons, Robert K. (Michele) Maier Jr. of Ocala, Fla and Larry Dean (Theresa) Maier of Elkhart; 2 daughters, Judith K. (Leonard) Jones of Colorado Springs, Col. And Melody Sue (Brent) Robertson of Goshen; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Scott Maier and a sister, Helen Miller.

Bob retired from Sunthimers Hardware as a salesman and then worked for Central Hardware and Goshen Hardware. He attended the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was a charter member of the Elkhart Breakfast Optimist Club which was formed in 1965. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Family and friends may call from 2-5 pm Sunday and an hour prior to the 1 pm service on Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. Pastor Andrea Hickey will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
