Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, age 72, of Elkhart passed away on Thursday morning November 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born on June 29, 1948 in Muskegon, MI to Arthur and Virginia Smith.  He married Sharon Penney on October 5, 1968 in Harbor Springs, MI.

Bob enjoyed nature, fishing and feeding the squirrels. He was extremely giving and a soft hearted, gentle and kind man. He was a loving husband, he was the “Best Dad” ever to his children. Bob Honorably served his country in the United States Army for 6 years and the Army National Guard for 10 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Sharon; their children, Trever (Rebecca) Smith of Elkhart and Tesha (Nathan) Miller of Elkhart; his mom, Virginia Smith of Harbor Springs, MI, grandchildren, Caleb Miller, Carter Miller and Toni Digiacomo; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Alexis and great-great grandchild, Irie; his siblings, Karen Geary of Harbor Springs, MI,  Sheila (Alfred) Major of Harbor Springs, MI, Susan Mesner of Harbor Springs, MI, Kelly Snively of Harbor Springs, MI, Kirby Snively of Harbor Springs, MI. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Smith and his step-father, James Snively, his siblings, Randy J. Smith,  Virginia Veen and Diane Kruzel,

Due to COVID-19 all services will be held privately. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the Smith family. Cards of condolences may be sent to the funeral home, then forwarded to the Smith family.
