Robert D. Whitmer

Robert D. Whitmer,79 of Elkhart passed away December 30, 2007 at Elkhart General Hospital.He was born to Russell and Maza Mae (Myers) Whitmer and married Betty M. Weaver on March 1, 1946.She died April 29, 2005. He then married Catherine M. Weaver on Noember 2, 2007.She survives with a son, Robert J. (Lorraine) Whitmer of Elkhart, three daughters; Delores (Herbert) Reeves of Elkhart, Marsha (James) Coffin of Effingham, Illinois and Lucinda Large of Deltona, Florida, two step-daughters; Mary (Todd) Blumenstock and Judy (David) Weitz both of Elkhart, a step-son, John (Jeanne) Weaver of Grand Rapids, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren,one great-great-grandson,six step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. A brother, Richard Whitmer preceded him in death.

Mr. Whitmer retired after 41 years as an electrician for C.T.S. Corporation, Elkhart. He was a charter member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church and served on the missions committee and was a past trustee. He was on the board of Susanna's Kitchen and a member of the DAV 19, Elkhart. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Memorial contributions may be given to Hillcrest United Methodist Church.
