Robert Lee Wood

March 20, 1941 — July 23, 2015

Robert Lee Wood, 74 of Elkhart, IN went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 23, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children at his bedside. Robert was born March 20, 1941 to the late John R. and Kate (Helton) Wood of Bristol, Tennessee.

Robert's charm and charisma attracted the eye of Wanda Elaine Goff of Saltville, VA and just months later they married in 1966. Together they raised three beautiful daughters, Kim, Katina, and Stacy and spoiled their only granddaughter Ashton Kate… named after Roberts mother.

Robert traveled the country as a semi driver for many years before he dedicated his life to the Lord and was called to be a Baptist Minister. He will forever be remembered for his fiery preaching filled with shouting, isle walking, and sharing of the scripture.

He is survived by his wife Wanda, daughters: Kim Wood, Katina Wood and Stacy (Dan) Setty, granddaughter Ashton Wood, two sisters: Georgia Carty and Phyllis Cross
And lots of extended loved ones….

Two sisters Ruth Wood Shipley and Dorothy Wood McCroskey both of Bristol, TN preceded Robert in death.

Visitation will be 2 to 6pm Sunday July 26 and Monday July 27 from 11 -11:45am at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where funeral services will begin at Noon with Reverend Jeff Little officiating. Burial will follow in Frame Cemetery, Elkhart.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Patrick Russell of Elkhart Neurology PC, Dr. David Taylor of Oaklawn Center, The Center for Hospice Care and Angela Asoera nurse extraordinaire for the amazing care and compassion you showed during Bobs’ trial with Parkinson’s Lewy Body.
