Rodney D. “Dutch” Anderson, 82, of Elkhart, died at 7:00 am Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home.

He was born January 7, 1927 in Elkhart to John R. and Mabel (Method) Anderson and married Nadine N. Phillips on August 14, 1954 in Elkhart. She survives with 2 sons, Mitchell (Susan) Anderson and Michael Anderson both of Elkhart and 4 grandchildren. 3 brothers, Charles, James, and John Anderson preceded in death.

Mr. Anderson was retired after 45 years as an iron worker with Local #292 and also worked for General Crane Service. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945 and attended Ball State University for 1 year. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

He was a member of Kane Lodge # 183 F&AM; Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend; and Mizpah Shrine, Fort Wayne.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Family and friends may meet at 10am Tuesday at the funeral home, where a procession will leave at 10:45 am for a graveside service at 11:00 am at Rice Cemetery. Representatives from Kane Lodge #183 F&AM will conduct a Masonic graveside service.
