Rollin L. Newell

Rollin L. Newell, 83 of Elkhart, died March 17, 2010 at 7:30 pm at home. He was born to Myron and Amanda Irene (Hostetler) Newell on March 5, 1927 in Bristol.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Ramona Bracker and Elizabeth (David) Earick; and a son, Edward (Shelly) Newell, all of Elkhart; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Earick, Tracey Earick, Benjamin Bracker, Ashlee (Dustin) Kehr, Matthew Newell; a great-granddaughter Zoey Kehr; his former wife Waynalene Newell of Elkhart; a sister Lavern Williams of Elkhart; and a brother Levon (Sharon) Newell of Goshen. He was preceded in death by siblings Devon, Gene, Jay, LaMar, Wiler and Merle Newell, Dorothy Elliott and Esther Smith.

Mr. Newell was a retired truck driver and US Army veteran in the Korean conflict, and a member of Teamsters Local 364. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, car shows and races.

Visitation will be 11 to 1 pm Tuesday with funeral services following at 1 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Rev Michael Quirey will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery where military graveside honors will take place.
