Ronald D. “Red” Green, 83 of Bristol, died on Jan. 18, 2015 at his home.

He was born June 3, 1931 in Hillsdale, Mich. to Leo L. and Bessie D. (Hauer) Green. He married Jean C. Wiesman on Dec. 8, 1951 in Elkhart. She survives with 4 daughters, Brenda (Floyd) Mowry of Crown Point, Judy (Terry) Jackson of Elkhart, Ellen (John) Andrews of Trenton, FL and Karen Green of Bristol; a foster son, Kent Sullivan of Phoenix, AZ; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen (Chuck) Feldman of Bristol. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leah Morrison and 4 brothers, Victor, Howard, Richard and Cleo Green.

Red graduated from Bristol High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Selmer’s as a shipper after 7 years. He previously had worked in maintenance at Timberbrook Mobile Home Park and as a custodian for Elkhart Community Schools.

He was a 55 year member of Bristol United Methodist Church, where he was active as a Missions Team Coordinator, choir member and Sunday School Teacher. He was District United Methodist Men’s President for 12 years, past president for the Custodian ASFME group and was a foster parent for 8 years and a member of the Bristol Lion’s Club.

Visitation for Red will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, Jan. 21st at Bristol United Methodist Church and for 2 hours prior to the Noon service on Thursday, Jan 22nd. Pastor Fred Stayton will officiate.

Memorials may be given to the Zambia Orphanage, c/o Bristol Methodist Church or to the Jail Chaplaincy, c/o Elkhart Co. Sheriff Dept.
