Ronald E. Phelps

Ronald E. Phelps, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born March 13, 1936 in Elkhart to Edward and Betty (Unrue) Phelps. He married Teri E. Blue-Caskey on March 17, 1990. She survives along with his children, Lisa Phelps of Dearborn, MI, Erik (Kimberly) Phelps of Elkhart and 3 grandchildren, Payton, Abby and Paige. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jenny Phelps.

Ron graduated from Elkhart High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, a division of the Chicago Art Institute and the Commonwealth Edison Lighting Institute. As a member of A.S.I.D, and N.C.I.D.Q, Ron and Teri owned and operated Phelps Design Associates in Elkhart.
He and Teri enjoyed their summers sailing and boating on Lake Michigan. In recent years, Ron also rekindled his love for painting.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 pm Tuesday, April 14th, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where a Celebration of Life Memorial will begin at 7 pm. Military honors will conclude the service. Per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
