Rose Gyamfua Sarfo, 68 of Bristol, Indiana, formerly of London, England, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Elkhart, surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 15, 1949 to Nana Kwabena Sarfo and Adwoa Pinaman in Akropong, Ghana. She married Kofi Afram Osei in 1972 in Kumasi, Ghana. He survives along with 5 sons: Drs. Kwabena (Adwoa) Osei of Bristol, Kwame Osei of Charlotte, NC, Kwabena “Kobe” (Davida) Osei of Bexley, OH, Dr. Daniel (Rebecca) Osei of Brentwood, CA, Andrew (Eleanor) Osei of London, U.K., nine grandchildren: Sean, Marie-Rose, Olivia, Evelyn, Annalise, Jude, Hanna-Louise, Helene, and Mirabelle, and several brothers, George Amankwah, Godwin Osei-Kuffour, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, and Emmanuel Baffour; sisters, nephews and nieces. She had a particular fondness for her sister Linda Safo, and her children Betty and Kwasi; her sister Esther Afranie and her children; her sister Lydia Safowaah and her children; and her niece Cassandra Osei-Kuffour.
Rose retired after a life-long career teaching in schools in Ghana and the U.K., and was a member of the Christian Mothers Association of the Catholic Church. She was a gifted baker with a flair for fashion and a passion for children (most of all, her beloved grandchildren). She will be remembered for her infectious, joyful spirit.
Visitation for Rose will be from 9 am to 11 am, Wednesday, September 27 at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1331 North Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46514, with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11 am. Father Jason Freiburger will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor in London, UK in November, 2017. Details to follow.
