Rose Anne Willis, 88 of Elkhart, IN went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Anne was born on March 3, 1935 to Henry J. and Evelyn Hunter in Winfield, KS. She married Raymond Franklin Willis on October 21, 1952, he preceded her in death on December 14, 2019.
Anne is survived by children Michael (Brenda) Willis of Wawaka, IN and Alice Anne Willis of Montreal, QC, CA; sisters, Barbara Rheinheimer of Elkhart, IN, Terri (Harold) Stafford of Moore, OK; brothers, Jim (Susie)Kirkpatrick of Ponca City, OK., and Floyd Hunter of Clinton, AK; as well as her grandchildren Kasey, Autumn, Paige and Max, 3 step-granddaughters and 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her parents.
Anne was the daughter of an inventor and a veteran of WW1 and an artisan dreamer. She came from a long line of craftswomen. She dreamt of becoming an artist for Walt Disney when she was young. She carried her artist spirit with her throughout her entire life. She offered her creativity to the communities and religious communities she belonged to. She taught art to students in her home for many years. She was also a musician and played the piano throughout her life. She also loved to dream up new worlds in the novels she wrote. She worked in the Elkhart Community Schools for over 23 years as a paraprofessional. She loved to spend time with her friends and family. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, IN.
Visitation will be held from Thursday, August 17, 2023 4:30pm – 5:30 pm at Grace Bible Church, 1700 Edwardsburg Ave., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be held at 5:30pm. Pastor Kyle Grant will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI alongside her husband Raymond.
