Rowene Janet Sibley

Rowene Janet Sibley, age 84 of Elkhart passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Rowene was born on April 15, 1936 in Cassopolis, MI to Victor and Sadie Shank.

Rowene graduated from Edwardsburg High School and received her business degree from Indiana University South Bend. She was one on the kindest people on earth, she loved cats, her family, her friends, nature, music, reading and glass paperweights. She was a hard and dedicated employee to Miles Laboratory, La Bour Pump and she retired from Elkhart Products as a secretary for the international sales department. Rowene was a member at Unitarian Universalist  Fellowship. She will be sadly missed.

Rowene is survived by her children, Amy Presswood, Freddy Sibley, Jr. her good friend and companion of over 18 years, Tom Hatfield, her grandchildren, Hallee (Richard, Jr.) Ellis, Zach (Laura) Estes, Stephane Sibley and Cara Ellinger; seven great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. Rowene was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Ginger Sibley, her siblings, Ted, William, Kenny and Donnabelle.

A celebration of Rowene’s life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 2-4 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 with a service at 4 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Doreen Mast officiating. Inurnment will take place privately at Salem Cemetery, Granger, IN.  Memorial donations in memory of Rowene may be made the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 8445 Keystone Crossing #135, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
