Roy Dunn, 90, of Elkhart, died at 12:30 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born June 21, 1919 in Pachuca, Mexico to William J. and Mary Louise (Hockin) Dunn. He married Rose Marie Kuehl on June 21, 1952 in Valparaiso, IN. She died July 18, 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann (Stan) Glanders of Elkhart, 1 grandson and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, John, Jack, George and Charlie Dunn and a sister, Evelyn Baker.

Mr. Dunn graduated from Parker High School in Chicago and retired from Borden’s Dairy Co. of Chicago and Woodstock, IL after 35 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodstock, IL and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart. He liked to fix old televisions and enjoyed electronics and baseball. He served as a medic with the U.S. Army 96th infantry “deadeyes” in World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Friends may call from 12 pm to 1 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 94, Valparaiso at 1:30 pm (Central Time) at Memorial Park Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
