Ruth S. Adams, 98 of Elkhart, passed away at her home at Eastlake Terrace on Monday, Sept. 14, 2014.
She was born July 16, 1917 in Elkhart to Russell and Sylvia (Vescelus) Schlarb. On May 30, 1936, she married Wilford Adams in Elkhart. She is survived by a daughter, Loretta (Terry) Deak of Bristol; 2 sons, Randall (Sandra) Adams and Thomas (Lisa) Adams both of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Paul Schlarb.
An Elkhart resident most of her life, she and Wilford retired to Bradenton, FL after she retired from J.C. Penney’s in 1980. They moved back to Elkhart after her husband’s health started to fail and lived many years at Stratford Commons. She was a member of First United Methodist Church until it closed.
She loved rubber stamping and making cards, word games, and her family.
A family graveside service will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Tom Defries.
