Ruth C. Brewton

Ruth C. Brewton, 90, of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Hubbard Hill Estates.

She was born November 11, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio to Albert J. and Marie (Leffel) Fisher. She married Carroll C. Brewton Sr. on November 11, 1942. He died on December 16, 1979. Surviving are 2 sons, Claude (Kathy) Brewton of Goshen and Jerry (Lynne) Brewton of Fishers; 1 daughter, Mary (Larry) Brown of Sherman, TX; and daughter-in-law, Rose Brewton of Ocala, FL; 9 grandchildren, Richard, David and Scott Brewton, Rob Fox, Christopher Donovan, Sarah Maksymovitch, Jessica Brewton-Turnbough, Jeremiah Current and Michelle Roper; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; A sister, Patricia Knisely of Hartsville, OH and a brother, Jim (Annette) Fisher of Marion, OH. She was preceded death by a son, Carroll C. Brewton Jr., a brother raised as son, David Fisher, sisters, Nellie Sheets and Ruby Boylan, and great-grandchildren Haley Rose Brewton and Seth and Noah Turnbough.

Ruth received her nursing degree from Ivy Tech and retired as an LPN. She attended Zion Missionary Church.

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday, Oct. 20th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral & Cremation Center and an hour prior to the 1 pm service on Monday, Oct. 21st. Pastor Mike Peters will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
