Ruth A. Foster

Ruth Ann Foster, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday March 12, 2016 at Greenleaf Living Center, Elkhart.
She was born June 28, 1932 in Elkhart to Charles and Matilda (Keever) Berkshire.
On Nov. 27, 1952 in Elkhart she married Bernard Foster who survives along with 6 children:
Dennis (Barb) Foster of Elkhart, Gary (April) Foster of Ligonier, Dan (Karen) Foster of Penfield, NY, Beth (Kenneth) Mahaffa of Goshen, Pat (Katy) Foster of St. Joe, MI and Paula (Todd) Checkley of Goshen; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a brother William Berkshire of Jacksonville, FL.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
Ruth volunteered at St. Thomas School then became a teacher’s aide and secretary for 25 years.
She was a member of St. Thomas Church and the altar Rosary Society.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Thursday March 17 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where a Rosary will be at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Friday March 18 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Vincent Cemetery.
Memorials may be made St. Thomas School or the Center for Hospice Care.
