Ruth Marie Kilmer

Ruth Marie Kilmer, 71, of Elkhart, passed away Monday July 15, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 31, 1953 in Elkhart to Donald and Vera Singleton. On October 24, 1970 she married Stephen B. Kilmer at Dunlap United Methodist Church in Elkhart, IN

Ruth graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1971 and worked for K-Mart as a clerk, in the office and management. She also worked for Sun Appliance as a secretary and retired from Concord Schools as a custodian. She was an avid scrapbooker, enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s ballgames, loved baking and hosting holiday parties for her family and friends. She is a member of Dunlap United Methodist Church. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

Ruth is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Stephen, their daughters, Heather (Robert) Thrapp of Elkhart, Amy (Jason) Bender of Elkhart, grandchildren, Courtney (Heaven) Thrapp-Agee, Corinda (Matt) Maday, Cierra Carey, Austin Carey, Griffin Thrapp, Dalton Carey and Madison Bender, seven great-grandchildren, Kellan, Eliseanna, Bentley, Maddox, Monte, Olivia and Carson, Siblings, Linda Bodlovich, Marcia (Leo) Tracy, Brenda Singleton, Debbie (Mick) Kreighbaum, She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Danny Bodlovich.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday July 18, 2024 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday July 19, 2024 at Dunlap United Methodist Church, 23674 US 33, Elkhart, IN 46517 where visitation will be one hour before at the church. Pastor Melissa Englehart will officiate.
