It is with heavy hearts that after a hard fought 4 year battle with breast cancer, we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” Briggs Dexter on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 73. Sandy passed away surrounded by the love of her family and loved ones. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Sandra was born on August 24, 1951 the daughter of Wilbur and Irene Dexter. She married Larry Briggs on February 21, 2004 in Jamaica.
Sandy was known for her deep love and devotion to her family. She found immense joy in raising her children and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the scent of freshly baked treats, as she had a true passion for baking. An avid crafter, Sandy poured her creativity into handmade treasures that will be remembered fondly by many. Alongside her late husband, Larry, she traveled the world, creating beautiful memories that she held dear. Her generosity, compassion, and selflessness were hallmarks of her character. Sandy always put the needs of others first, never hesitating to offer help or lend a hand. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness will forever be remembered by those lucky enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched
She is survived by her children, Adam Smale, Angel (Robert) Helsing, and Steven Smale; her sister, Linda Cruise; and her brother, Dick Dexter. She was a proud grandmother to Jordan Crawley, Rachel Helsing, Amanda (Branden) Selesky, and Adam “A.J.” Helsing, and a loving great-grandmother to Athena Orth and Alex Fautes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Irene Dexter; her brothers, Thomas and Russ Dexter; and her beloved husband, Larry Briggs. In keeping with Sandy wishes there will be no service.
