Sandra Landree Duwe

Sandra Landree Duwe, 73, of Elkhart passed away Monday, May 9, 2016. She was born January 23, 1943 in Austin, MN to George H. Landree and Arletta (Hanneman) Landree. She is survived by her son, Greg A. (Theresa A.) Duwe of Orlando, FL and her two granddaughters, Taylor E. Duwe and Payton N. Duwe, also from Orlando, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandy graduated from Purdue University and began her teaching career in Rochester, NY. In 1967 she moved to Elkhart and began teaching English and British Literature at Elkhart Central High School where she retired after 32 years.

She was involved with AAUW, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, two book clubs, as well as being an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church choir, lector team and mission team/outreach group. When her son Greg was young she was also involved as his Boy Scout leader.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 4:00 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Midwest Museum of Art, Dollars for Scholars at Elkhart Central High School or St. Paul’s United Methodist Church/Outreach Program.
