Sharon L. Keener

Sharon L. Keener, 71, of 2601 Oakland Avenue, Elkhart, died at 6:04 pm, Friday, September 4, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born September 4, 1938 in Elkhart to Langford L. and Carol M. (Reese) Canell. Surviving are 3 daughters, Carol (Paul Gallery) Hamilton of Elkhart, Cheryl (Rick) Hawks of Bristol, IN and Allysen (Enrique “Rick”) Martinez of Lakewood, OH; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Beverly Strickler of Granger, IN, Helen (Melvin) Yoder of Middlebury, IN, Velda (Larry) Wesolowski of South Bend, IN, and Michele (David) Muir of Bristol, IN; 2 brothers, Charles (Jans) Canell of Leesburg, FL and Langford Canell Jr. of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Rose, a great-grandson Dominique Miller and her parents.

Mrs. Keener was an upholsterer for DuMor Office Furniture Co. in Elkhart and previously was the owner of Servicemaster Services and Captain Clean in Elkhart. She attended Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed shopping and her family.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart, where services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Christopher Hinshaw of Grace Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
