Sharon Savage

June 5, 1935 — February 21, 2015

Sharon L. Savage, 79, of Granger, Indiana, formerly of Theodosia, died Saturday, February 21,, 2015 at the Hearth of Juday Creek Nursing Home in Granger. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday February 26 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday February 27 in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Kackley officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at 2:00 PM Friday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Sharon Lee Savage was born Wednesday, June 5, 1935 in Watertown, South Dakota to Harry Emerson and Duska Jewel (Nicolay) Bruns. She attended school in Watertown and graduated from the Watertown High School in 1953. In June of 1953 she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA. Here she met Donald Savage who was also in the Navy. They were married May 7, 1954 in Elizabeth City, NC. Sharon was soon honorably discharged from the Navy and became a stay-at-home mom while her husband was away at sea. They were later stationed in South Bend, IN, NJ, IL, Japan and Washington DC. They moved to Theodosia in 1992 from South Bend. While in South Bend, Sharon was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. She retired in 1992.

Sharon was an amazing lady. She did outstanding oil paintings, won various prizes for her hand quilted quilts, worked with the Senior Citizens of Theodosia and was a member of a ladies line dancing group. She was a member of the Toast Mistresses International and the Theodosia United Methodist Church.

Sharon was the glue of the family. She held everything together and her tenacious approach to life drove her to do whatever was to be done. She was a wonderful, caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by four sons, Steve Savage and wife, Donna of Talala, OK, Terrance Savage and wife, Pamela L. of York, PA, Donald Savage and wife, Sherry L. of Patterson, GA, Linton Savage of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Lynne Werner and husband, Robert of Elkhart, IN; two brothers, Lyle Bruns and wife, Valarie of Seattle, WA, Tom Bruns and wife, Dawn of Sartell, MN; ten grandchildren, Mike Hoffman, Greg Savage, Michelle Knepper, Jennifer and Kari Dow, Karyn Savage, Adrienne Phillips, Matthew and Christopher Savage and Lauren Brown and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald R. Savage in 2008.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
