Shirley J. Boyer, age 88, of Elkhart, IN she received her angel’s wings on October 1, 2023. She passed away at Creekside Village in Mishawaka, IN. Shirley was born on December 4, 1934 to Stanley and Martha Scearce in Elkhart, IN. She married Harold on January 24, 1953 in Elkhart, IN., he passed away on August 23, 2000.
Shirley worked for several years at Excel in Elkhart, IN , she retired as a custodian from Goshen Community Schools. She enjoyed cooking, making decorations and crafts. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, she had a love for shopping and a big heart for giving. Shirley loved to spend time with her friends and family.
Shirley is survived by her children Doug (Jody) Boyer of White Pigeon, MI., Jeff (Sally) Boyer of Bristol, IN., Julie Williams of Elkhart, IN , Pam (John )Gordon of St. Pete. FL; her grandchildren Doug Jr. (Carrie) Boyer, Kelly (Josh) Freedline, Olivia (Jake) Swinehart, Maddie (Caleb) Platz, Justin (Rachel) Williams, Brenden (Adrienne) Williams, Krista Young, Kamdyn Williams, Casey (Carmen) Westlake and Matthew Westlake; her great-grandchildren Ethan Boyer, Kyle Boyer, Giana (Nick) Irelan, Ty Freedline, Hannah Freedline, Beau Freedline, Dylan Freedline, Blake Freedline, Bailee Freedline, Nevaeh Freedline, Finley Swinehart, Mia Swinehart , Jayden Moore, Brayden Moore, Natalia Martinez, Analaya Barham, Liam Williams, Harmony Williams, Alec Nwokah, Zekiel Williams, Pierce Williams, Rhys Williams, Drue Williams, Andrew Siebert, Tyler Siebert, Alexandria Westlake and Larkin Westlake and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Nancy Starforth of Kansas City, MO. Shiley was preceded in death by her parents Stanley Scearce and Martha Miller, her husband Harold Boyer, her siblings Keith Scearce, Barbara Gard, Ike Scearce, grandson Chris Siebert and her son-in-law Kenneth Williams.
Visitation will be held from 11am -1 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a memorial celebration will be held at 1pm. Pastor Jeff Stutzman will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, IN.
