Stanley Lamar Marks

Stanley Lamar Marks, 70, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly May 23, 2011 at 2:07 pm. He was born October 17, 1940 in Knox, IN to Harold D. Marks and Ruby Kinney Marks Hawkins. He married Judy E. Stanley on June 26, 1960 in Koontz Lake, IN.

Surviving with his wife, Judy, of Elkhart, are sons Dennis (Shannon) Marks of Osceola, Michael (Linda) Marks of Elkhart; daughter Kim (Mark) Varda of Osceola; 6 grandchildren, Daniel, David, Brittany, Lindsay, Kristin and Kaylee; stepsisters Hazel Scott of Tyner, IN and Vicki (Gary) Maybee of Plymouth; a stepbrother Jon (Dottie) Hawkins of LaPaz, IN; and his beloved dogs Sammy, Bo and Gracie.

Stan owned and operated Stan’s Trash Service for 25 years then worked for Allied Waste where he retired. He also owned and operated Tradewinds Gem and Minerals. He was a member of California Road Missionary Church where he served as deacon, and had a very deep love for his awesome God.

Friends may visit the family from 5 to 8 pm Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 am funeral service Saturday at California Road Missionary Church in Elkhart. Rev. Bud Walterhouse will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Grovertown Cemetery in Grovertown, IN.
