Steven L. Whitaker

Steven Lee Whitaker, 69, passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2022 at his home. Steven was born on January 19, 1953 in Mount Clemmons, Michigan near Detroit, to Robert and Rosemary Whitaker. He married the love of his life, Cynthia on April 13, 1985 in the lil’ log cabin at Heaton Cabin in Elkhart, IN.

Steve was a retired from Tri State in Goshen. He enjoyed racing, riding on his motorcycle, flying his airplane, boating or just anything outdoors. But his real love was spending time with his family and his friends.

Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cynthia Whitaker of Elkhart; their children, Geoff Wentzell of Niles, MI., Lacee (Jeff) Whitaker Cripe of Brighton, MI., and Zachary Whitaker of Cassopolis, MI., their grandchildren, Lauren, Gillian, Rowan, Marley, Cage and Hadlee; and one great-grandson, A.J.

Friends may visit from 12-4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held 4pm at the funeral home.
