T. Roy Ware, 73, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:20 am, February 24, 2009 at the South Bend Clinic.
He was born January 23, 1936 in Panola County, Mississippi to Roy and Adlena (Henderson) Ware and married Tamara L. Spicer on April 16, 1988 in Elkhart. His wife Tammy survives along with 2 sons, Tony (Renee) Ware of Elkhart and Billy Ware of San Diego, CA; 3 daughters, Felicia Ware of Milwaukee, Wi, Tamara C. Ware of Indianapolis, IN, and Adlena Ware of Elkhart; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, Marvin Ware of Jackson, MS, Elvin Ware and Glenn Ware of Elkhart, and Larry Ware of Orlando, FL and 1 sister, Dimple E. Ware Langford of Pope, MS. Also his sister-in-laws, Wardine B. Ware, of Elkhart and Dorothy Ware of Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Gary Ware and Johnny Mathis, a daughter Kendra Ware and 2 brothers, Stanley and Martin "Joe" Ware.
Mr. Ware worked in construction until he became disabled. He enjoyed his grandkids and fishing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Friends may call from 4-6 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home and a half hour prior to the funeral service at 1 pm Friday at First Congregational Church UCC, 431 S. Third Street, Elkhart. Reverend Anne Cubbage will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Veterans section where military graveside honors will be given by the U.S. Army honor detail and the D.A.V. # 19, Elkhart.
Memorials may be given to Southern Care Hospice.
