Terry Edward Garl

Terry Edward Garl, age 67, of Osceola passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Terry was born on December 17, 1953 to Thomas and Charlotte Garl in South Bend. He married Kathlyn Grisamer on September 9, 1978 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elkhart, IN.

Terry graduated Elkhart High School class of 1972. He worked as a surveyor for the City of Elkhart, for Bendix Corp., in the Missile Plant in Mishawaka, and at Bendix Corp., in South Bend as an engineer. He retired as an engineer from KIB in 2018. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. He enjoyed auctions, estate sales and antique radios. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, whom he affectionately called, “Grandpa’s Peanut.”

Terry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy Garl of Osceola, their children, Kelly Ann (Michael Kohn) Garl of New Carlisle, IN and Amy Lynn Garl of Elkhart and his grandson, William Scott Kohn. Also surviving are his sister, Penny Groth of South Bend, and his brother, Tim (Denny) Garl of Bloomington, IN and several nieces. Terry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Larry Groth.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1133 Kilborn Street, Elkhart, IN 46514. Pastor Dan Forhand will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 11am – 1pm on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
