Thelma L. Gable, 90, of Elkhart passed away, Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born on July 4, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Fred Lee and Amelia M. (Allen) Lindsey. She married M. Joe Gable on Oct. 7, 1962 in Elizabeth City, NC. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Brace, of Elkhart, IN, and four grandchildren, Tate Brace, Reid Wegrecki and Brian and Brent Dalrymple. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on Feb. 7, 1998, a daughter Sherri Dalrymple, 2 half-brothers and a half-sister.
Extremely good with technology and numbers, Thelma began her career working in the budding new industry of computer data entry. She would continue to work in the financial and medical data fields for over 40 years.
Thelma loved listening to Daniel O’Donnell and Celtic Thunder to preserve her Irish roots. She also bowled twice a week with friends until the age of 83, loved reading, learning the latest technology and tinkering with her gadgets.
Above all, family was the most important priority. Her selfless dedication to their happiness and safety knew no time or financial limits. She was always there to support those she loved and once a part of her life, she forever embraced you as part of her family.
Visitation for Thelma will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Monday, July 24th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. A procession will leave at 1:40 pm to Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol where a graveside service will be at 2 pm.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart Hospice House.
