Theodore H. Kirchner

Theodore H. Kirchner, 85, of Elkhart, died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Hubbard Hill Estates. He was born December 25, 1923 in Elkhart, to George and Esther (Creutz) Kirchner. On September 3, 1949, he married Doris A. Albin in Goshen.

She survives along with a son Bruce A. (Kathy) Kirchner of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter Linda A. (Jon) Titus of Elkhart; 2 grandchildren Bryan Kirchner of Sacramento, California and Marla (Trevor) Varvel of Indianapolis; and a great-grandson Nathan Varvel of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Leslie, Kenneth, Harold, Norman and Edmund Kirchner, and one sister Edith Kirchner Stork.

Mr. Kirchner retired in 1986 after working 10 years as an electrical technician at Miles Laboratories, and was previously employed at CG Conn for 35 years in the electronics division. He was a member of the former Albright United Methodist Church and enjoyed tinkering with electrical devices at home. He served in the US Army during World War II.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am. Rev. Larry Pletcher of Nappanee will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
