Thomas E. Garl

Thomas E. Garl, 95, of Elkhart passed away Tuesday evening at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart.

Thom was born March 13, 1922 in Elkhart to Clinton and Ruth (Cook) Garl. He married Charolette M. Plummer on July 2, 1947. Surviving are a daughter, Penny Groth of South Bend; 2 sons, Terry (Kathlyn) Garl of Osceola and Tim (Jennifer) Garl of Bloomington, IN and 7 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife Charolette on April 11, 2014, a brother, Max Garl and his parents.

Thom graduated from Elkhart High School and served honorably in World War II with the U.S. Army-Air Corps. He retired after a long career as Corporate Traffic Manager for NIBCO. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and an associate member of Augustana Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Elkhart Evening Optimist Club, Loyal Order of Moose #599, Tyrian Masonic Lodge #12, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and the Mizpah Shrine.

Visitation for Thom will be from 2-3 pm Friday Nov. 17th at Augustana Lutheran Church where the funeral service will begin at 3 pm. Rev. Steven Reshan will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
