Thomas E McManus, Sr.

Thomas Eugene McManus, Sr., 82, of Elkhart passed away Friday, June 9th, at Elkhart Hospice House.

He was born June 19, 1934 in Elkhart, IN to Eugene A. and Ruth E. (Gravender) McManus. He married Linda L. Leininger on November 14, 1959 in Elkhart, IN.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Linda; a son, Thomas E. McManus, Jr.; a daughter, Lori (Andre) Randles, 3 granddaughters: Amy (Brian) Howard, Keri McManus and Alexis Randles; 3 great-grandchildren; his aunt, Virginia Gravender of Elkhart; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry K. McManus.

Thomas retired as a heavy equipment operator with Nipsco after 34 years and was a member of Elkhart East Christian Church. Thomas also heroically served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. Thomas loved big band music, “old” cars and was an avid bowler.

Visitation will be on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Reverend Thomas Short of Elkhart East Christian Church will officiate. Entombment will take place at Rice Cemetery.
