Thomas E. Sparr, 67, of Elkhart, passed away February 25, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born August 3, 1941 in Elkhart to Floyd and Berniece (Kitson) Sparr and married Judith K. Ross on July 21, 1962 in Bristol. She survives with a son, Thomas R. Sparr and a daughter, Diane (Jeff) McKibbin both of Elkhart, 5 grandchildren and a sister, Judy (Chuck) Teall of Middlebury.
Tom retired after 43 years as a machinist from Speedgrip-Chuck, Inc. He was a charter member of EVAC antique car club for many years. He was an avid sports fan and attended every high school basketball sectional at Northside Gym. He collected and restored antiques, cars, toys, etc. He also restored player pianos for many years. He was a former member of the Michiana Horseshoe League and pitched with his dad for years. He loved his grandchildren. He graduated from Concord High School in 1959 and was active in the 59'ers, a group of classmates who regularly met.
Friends may call from 2-6 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Private graveside services will take place at a later date at Middleton Cemetery, Elkhart.
Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
