Verna Nation Clewell

Verna Nation (Jones) Clewell, 96, of Elkhart, died at 2:00 am, August 11, 2011 at
Golden Living Center. She was born May 15, 1915 to Henry H. and Mary Nation in Springfield, IL. On June 28, 1937, she married Cleveland Jones. He died November 24, 1984. She married John Clewell on September 19, 1987. He died December 4, 2003.

She is survived by daughters Carol Jones Coget of Elkhart and Janice “Jan” (Ray) Edwards of Pekin, IL; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and a brother Alfred (Lolita) Nation of East Alton, IL. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Clewell worked in sales for Stanley Home Products and Sarah Coventry Jewelry and Glassware. She was a member of Elkhart East Christian Church.

Visitation will be Monday, 10 to 11 am at Elkhart East Christian Church, 21851 CR 4, Bristol, with funeral services at 11 am. Rev. Tom Short will officiate and burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church. Visit www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com to sign an online guestbook.
