Viola J. Robison, age 87, of Elkhart passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Ernestine M. Raclin House-Center for Hospice in Mishawaka. She was born on November 20, 1934, to David and Helen (Stokes) Shoemaker, in Toledo, OH. On May 30, 1963, in Toledo, OH, she married Roger S. Robison. They met while both were employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Company at their technical center, while participating in a company sponsored stage play at the University of Toledo. Vi performed The Dance of Lola from Guys & Dolls.
Vi is survived by her husband Roger Robison of Elkhart; their son, Steve Robison of Elkhart and daughter, Gwen Robison of Elkhart; her sisters, Cathy (Pastor Alvin) Shrum of South Carolina and Patsy (Marty) Bettencourt of Florida; grandchildren, Nicole Robison, Paige Robison, and Madison Robison all of Elkhart; a niece, Abbey Superchi; nephews, Ross Langendorfer, Mike Reno, and Ken Reno. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Vi enjoyed being a member of “The Heart Time” Ladies and “Free the Children” projects. She loved to help others; it was very satisfying for her. She volunteered for many projects at church.
After attending the University of Toledo, Vi worked as a technical secretary at Owens-Illinois Tech. Center. In 1964 she and her husband moved to Elkhart. Vi managed the Y.W.C.A. resale shop for some time. She worked for a couple of investment services but many of her last working years for Douglas Investments.
Vi and her husband spent many winters in Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved to travel, to see and learn about new things, in Europe and most of the United States.
Friends may visit with family from 10-11am on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a memorial service will be held at 11am with Pastor Alvin Shrum presiding.
