Walter I. Hartman, 87, went to be with the Lord Tuesday night, January 21, 2014.
He was born in Wakarusa on September 29, 1926 to Raymond and Elva (Martin) Hartman.
Surviving is his wife, June (Fisher) Hartman, children Brent (Karin) of Elkhart, Greg (Bethany) of Elkhart, Karen (Marvin) Metzler of Union, MI, Debbie (Dale) Bozell of Brownsburg, IN and Roger (Lynn) of Osceola and 19 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Lois (Lewis) Miller of Rome City, IN.
Walt was an active member at Beulah Missionary Church as an usher and served on the board of trustees. He was a volunteer driver delivering mobile meals for the Salvation Army and a former member of the Noon Exchange Club. He spent the majority of his career as a Car Salesman and New Car Sales Manager in Elkhart.
Walt was a devoted husband and loving father who took pleasure in spending time with his family. He enjoyed golfing,bowling and playing croquet with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beulah Missionary Church.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM Saturday Jan. 25th at Stemm- Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 2 PM Sunday Jan. 26th at Beulah Missionary Church at 57595 Old CR 17, Goshen.
