William V. Cox, 92 of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 7, 1923 in Rochester, IN to Omar V. and Grace R. (Norris) Cox. He married Chloe L. Webber on Nov. 4, 1945 in Chicago. Surviving are his wife, Chloe Cox of Elkhart, a son, Douglas (Debbie) Cox of Elkhart; a daughter, Cheryl (James) Jindra of Wooster, OH; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dean L. Cox.
Bill graduated in 1942 from Elkhart High School and Moody Bible Institute. He was a machinist for Jessen Mfg. Co. for many years and retired from Bock Industries. He also was a radio announcer for WMBI in Chicago and WCMR in Elkhart.
He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Northside Baptist Church. He enjoyed photography, flying and Bible study.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, Oct. 11th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit from 11 am Tuesday until service time. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
