William D. Storm

William D. (Bill) Storm, 82, of Goshen, a faithful and loyal servant of his Creator will remain in his heavenly Father’s memory awaiting his resurrection, a loving family member that departed too soon Saturday evening, May 16.
He was born June 11, 1932 in Cannelton, Indiana, to Virgil and Julia (Swihart) Storm.
On July 9, 1982, he married Linda J. McClintock of Goshen, his wife of 32 years. Bill was previously married to Wanda L. (Powers) Conway, mother of his children; son, Virgil M. Storm; daughter, Wilma S. (Dale) McDougle and son, Archie W. Storm all of Elkhart. All survive with wife Linda and step-daughter Tracy (Richard) Winrott of Goshen, as well as his sister, Lucille Kreisle of Estro, Fla. Bill was blessed with ten grandchildren; Ryan McDougle of Noblesville, Whitney Storm, Jacob (Chelsea) McDougle, Devinne Storm, Felicia Storm, Reilley Storm, Drew McDougle, Peyton Storm all of Elkhart, as well as Ryan and Casey Noel, both of Goshen and nine Great-Grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, IvaGene Bolin; and a brother-in-law, Donald Kreisle.
Bill loved to watch his grandchildren participate in organized sports, as well as follow his favorite teams; IU Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. He was extremely involved with his Congregations in Goshen, Rochester and Mishawaka. He traveled to New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses World Headquarters to tour The Watchtower facilities. He encouraged others to learn sign language and the Bible to enrich their lives. Deaf since birth, he shared his faith in God’s word using ASL (American Sign Language) with the Deaf Community and with an English Interpreter in the local community. He was a faithful and loyal servant of His Creator, trying his best to live a Christian life. Bill had an amazing impact on people; it was evident that he loved life. He was invited by The Watchtower (a religious publication) to share his life story, he declined the attention. Bill was very involved with the Goshen College Interpreter Training Programs during the first five years, being a local Goshen Deaf resident, sharing his life experiences as well as working with numerous students.
Bill worked as a skilled laborer in the automotive industry where he was given the nickname “Stormy” by his co-workers. He retired from Dana Corporation after 33 years of service on January 1, 1999.
Friends and family are invited this Saturday, May 23 to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2431 Filbert Rd. Mishawaka. Visitation is 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. officiated by Joshua Trimmer, an Elder in the River Park Sign Language Congregation. Service will be in ASL and interpretation into English. Memorial contributions may be given to Jehovah’s Witnesses, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483 in William Storm’s honor.
