Willis F. Spry

Willis F. Spry, 90 of Winter Haven, Fl, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Sept. 17, 2015 at his home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Manchester, TN to Marion F. and Serena Ellen Spry. He married Mary Ellen Lemons on Dec. 24, 1947. She died Oct. 10, 2013. Surviving are 4 daughters, Mildred Konrath, Cathy Wentland, Geneva Adams and Roxy Spry; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George (Elaine) Spry and Johnny Spry and a sister, Ollie Spry. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Franklin, Yancy, Edgart, Henry and Orville Spry and a sister Ema Murry, a grandson Steven Adams and 2 half brothers and 3 half sisters.

Willis retired as a machine operator for Elkhart Rubber Works. He previously had worked in the cabinet shop at Banner Homes and delivered vehicles for Whitman’s Auto.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and attended New Testament Bible Church and loved fishing and camping.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 am Thursday, Sept. 24th. Interment will follow at Olive West Cemetery with military honors.
