Dawn R. Ash, 73, of Elkhart, Indiana, died peacefully on January 11, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1950 in Goshen, to Cecil (Jim) Rogers and Lois (Wisler) Rogers. On December 10, 1977, she married John B. (Barney) Ash in Elkhart. He survives along with their children John C. Ash of Austin, Texas, his wife Allison, their children Wiley, Brooks and August, daughter, April D. Hatton, her husband Adam, their children Eleanor and Ash of Takoma Park, Maryland, Keith and Chris Rogers of Brasstown, North Carolina and Jim Rogers of Corpus Christi, Texas. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Dana A. Rogers of Syracuse, Indiana.
She graduated from Goshen High School and The Indiana School of Real Estate. Dawn was employed by Leatherman Real Estate for several years and then was a stay- at- home mom until her children entered Junior High School. She returned to work at Concord Junior High School as the assistant to the librarian and most recently worked as support staff in the classroom. She worked at the Junior High for more than 30 years.
She was an active tennis player at Elcona Country Club and was also a member of the Women’s traveling tennis team at East Lake Athletic Club. She loved gardening and adorned their homes in Elkhart with an abundance of both annual and perennial flowers. Her true love was her family and their five grandchildren. Dawn also enjoyed the dogs they owned over the years taking them on her daily walks.
Dawn wanted to say thank you to all her friends and family for all their help and support.
For her wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Stemm- Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 pm on Saturday April 20, 2024 at The Lerner Theatre Cittadine Room, 410 South Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46516, where there will be light appetizers and refreshments. In place of flowers, the family requests donations in Dawn’s name to Elkhart Parks & Recreation Dog Park- 229 S.
