Harry K. Bailiff

Harry K. Bailiff, 81 of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on April 9, 1942 in Standish, MI to Harry R. and Kathryn Bailiff.  He married Barbara Ann George on June 16, 1984 in Elkhart, she preceded him in death on November 10, 2018.

Harry is survived by his 4 sons, Brady A. Bailiff of Ferndale, MI., Sheldon (Kimberly) Bailiff of Rochester Hills, MI., Kevin (Kelly) George of Mishawaka, IN and  Robert W. (Leighann) George of Canyon Country CA: his companion Elaine Wagner of Elkhart, IN; 11 grandchildren, Jacob (Dana), Maxwell and Samuel Bailiff; Carson and Chase Bailiff; Connor and Erin George; Tula, Miles and Ella George and Nicholas Pennington; 2 sisters Sandy Girard of Jackson, MI and Linda Northrup of Ypsilanti, MI.

He earned his associate degree from the University of Michigan - Flint. He worked at Sears for over 38 years, where he opened the Elkhart store as a credit manager moving into floor sales and various department manager positions. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was Commandant of the U.S. Power Squadron of South Bend, IN. He loved to travel all over the country. He was always known to bring a smile to your face by making a clever pun or telling a good joke. Harry was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. He enjoyed playing cards and he especially liked euchre and contract bridge. He loved to spend time on the water, with family and friends.

Visitation for Harry will be from 3-8 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the funeral, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
